Description:

Stars are formed when large collections of gas and dust form molecular clouds. The resulting dense cloud clump heats up enough to initiate nuclear fusion, giving birth to a new star. This is referred to as “stellar formation” and occurs within regions aptly named stellar nurseries. Our galaxy contains many star-forming regions, including Orion’s Nebula. There are many other ways stars can be created, but this is the most common, taking approximately fifty million years to create one star. “Where Stars are Born” features solos from almost every instrument, representing the various star-creating stages. The music grows and ebbs several times, eventually including all the players. The piece winds down with final chords that are warm and content as a peaceful, newborn “starshine.”
